Time for Thanksgiving. But the world is not the same. The holiday guidance from the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) reveals a worsening Coronavirus crisis. It states that household gatherings are one of the major contributors to the spread of virus. According to the CDC, senior citizens and people at increased risk of contracting the virus (like those with co-morbid conditions) must not participate in household gathering this Thanksgiving. “Thanksgiving is basically about giving thanks to the Almighty for whatever we have. This we can do together through a virtual gathering,” says a doctor at the STD clinic in DC. Spreading health awareness Since the Coronavirus attacked the world, doctors are more particular spreading awareness on overall health. “When you are overall healthy, you have less chances of contracting viruses in general,” remarks the doctor. That’s why doctors ask people to not miss their routine health checkups and STD testing. “A STD test could be the last thing on your mind, but it is crucial because many STDs show symptoms similar to cold and flu,” informs a doctor at an urgent care clinic that conducts discreet STD testing. While we give thanks to everything in our life, we must not forget to thank the Divine for our health. “And for the nearby urgent care center that gives you the sheer convenience of immediate medical care,” adds the doctor at the DC clinic. Talking health during Thanksgiving Nobody likes to talk about disease, clinics, and testing during a Thanksgiving dinner, right? However, one of the doctors at the urgent care center advises people to gently remind their family members when they gather (virtually) about their routing checkups and consultations. This year is different. So, when you meet your extended family online, ask them about their overall health. If any member has a medical condition, ask them about their medication refills, follow-up doctor visits, and others. You may not want to talk about STD testing in front of everybody, but you can contact your family member discreetly later and talk to him/her about STDs and the importance of tests. Do you know people infected with viruses like HIV are more likely to be infected with other viruses? This is because HIV slowly deteriorates your immune system. In the wake of the Coronavirus, you cannot afford to have a weakening immunity, can you? STD testing in Alexandria is available anonymously at an affordable rate. Guard your treasure Health is the biggest treasure in the world. A healthy person can truly enjoy the delicious Thanksgiving feast. Are you one of them? Even if you are not completely healthy and are undergoing treatment, you can still enjoy the feast, but treatment happens only when you attend to your symptoms and undergo a test. This holds true for STDs and for other diseases. This Thanksgiving, let’s remember to thank all the health care workers and first responders handling Covid-19 patients, the STD clinic in DC conducting discreet testing, and the fact that you are safe and healthy at your home.
